Quote #27

Remember that it's not about the material things. | "It's the little things in life." — Unknown

This quote is not wildly original, but I specifically chose it today to talk about the little things.  I recently made a list of all my “obsessions” or you could call them things that I enjoy, the little things.  The list ranged from foxes, to reading, to Harry Potter, to music, to coffee, to zip-up jackets.  There’s a lot of things in life to enjoy.  I believe that you should enjoy the little things that make you happy; don’t deny them.  If it makes you happy and it’s good for you, then do it!  Don’t let other people bring you down because you like something.  It’s good that you have some variation.  I’m not sure how many people have heard of it, but the movie The Sound of Music there is a song called, “My Favorite Things” while the main character sings about her, well, favorite things.  The song goes;

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

It continues like that for a second time, but the point is that I turned my list into a parody (song that takes the tune from one song and changes the words) that has all of my favorite things in it.  Here is my parody for “My Favorite Things”;

Steaming brown coffee

And strolls on the beach

Long night-time drives with twinkling lights

New shoes waiting in a cardboard box

These are a few of my favorite things

Sunrises, sunsets, the camera clicking

Apples and mangoes

And beautiful singing

Pieces of sky you see through the trees

These are a few of my favorite things

Laughing with friends until you bend

Summer days that never end

Dazzling red, yellow and orange

These are a few of my favorite things

Melancholy

Disconsolate

When I’m feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don’t feel so bad

Valley Lilies

And brilliant orange foxes

Flashing silver of delicate glasses

Reading on rainy days, watching the sky

These are a few of my favorite things

Wind through the trees and waving green grasses

Smiling children

And gold trumpets calling

Paintbrushes swiping across the page

These are a few of my favorite things

Opening presents on cold snowing Christmas

Writing a story with action and romance

Watching a movie with popcorn a-fresh

These are a few of my favorite things

Melancholy

Disconsolate

When I’m feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don’t feel so bad

Quote 27, I kind of turned into a showcase, huh?  Tell me what you thought of my parody!
